Annabelle (Sellers) Vawter, age 94, Elwood, IN, formerly of Tipton County, passed into the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 8:25 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Elwood. She was born January 11, 1932, in Prairie Twp., Tipton County to Vivian (Harlow) and Leon Sellers. She was raised by her Maternal Grandparents Vernon & Elizabeth (Shuck) Harlow. Annabelle married her high school sweetheart, Don J. Vawter on May 20, 1951, at Liberty Baptist Church. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2016, after 65 yrs of marriage.
Annabelle graduated from Prairie Twp High School in 1950 and was an active 4-H club and Junior Leader for 10 years. She worked at Public Service in Kokomo before starting their family and spent the next 20 years being a wife, mother and homemaker. She later worked for Stout and Son Funeral Home and Kokomo Schools. Annabelle was a member of West Point Christian Church since 1955, West Point Ladies Aid, and a charter member and officer of the Tri-Add Homemakers Extension Club.
She is survived by 5 children: Michael (Michelle) Vawter, Susan Vawter, Karen (Glenn) Van Meter, Kristi (Shawn) Townsend, and Katrina (Keith) Vawter. She loved and enjoyed her 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; she is also survived by 2 sisters, Anita Kessler, and Linda Kessler; along with much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband Don, Annabelle was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Gene Sellers and Joe Kessler.
A funeral celebrating Annabelle’s life will take place at 2 pm Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville, with Pastor Darren Miracle officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon until the start of the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery at 10 am Monday, February 23, 2026.
