Anna Ruth Horner, 92, Kokomo, passed away at 8:35 pm Sunday, November 21, 2021, at her home. She was born January 6, 1929, in Greentown, the daughter of the late Homer Dale & Amelia (Helmuth) Sommers. On March 11, 1950, she married Henry D. Slabach who preceded her in death August 29, 1981. She then married Mark Horner October 16, 2004, who survives.
Anna was a graduate of Greentown High School. She worked as a beautician and owned her own beauty salon in Amboy. She was also employed by First Farmer’s Bank in Converse and Dan Otto Auctions. Anna enjoyed collecting antiques. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was the life of the party. Anna loved life and traveling. Anna was always very stylish and wore the latest fashion trends. She was #9 of 11 children and enjoyed family trips to Shipshewana with her sisters and nieces.
Along with her husband Mark, Anna is also survived by her children, Debbie Slabach, Millie (Dave) Dill and Joyce (Bill) Husmann; grandchildren, Jessica (Doug) Gassner, Paul Dill, Nate (Surekha) Husmann, Josh (Lisa) Husmann and Polly (Cory) Norman; great-grandchildren, Max and Vin Gassner, Jake, Jenna, Jet, Kian and Bodhi Husmann, and Gabe, Luke and Drew Norman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who adored her and loved her sense of humor and style.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Henry; and 10 siblings.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Pastor Tim Gates officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Cemetery in Amboy. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-8 pm Monday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown.
