Anita Joanne (Wiley) Hall

Anita Joanne Hall, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 11:25 pm Monday, July 2, 2018, at Golden Living Center- Sycamore Village in Kokomo.  She was born September 2, 1926, in Warren, IN, the daughter of Robert M. & Garnet (Taylor) Wiley.  She is the wife of Ronald L. Hall, who survives.

Anita graduated from Salamonie Township High School in Warren in 1944.  She received an associate’s degree from Indiana University in Kokomo.  She held memberships in Gamma Rho, Tri Kappa Sorority and First Congregational Church where she taught Sunday school.   An accomplished seamstress, she established “The Hall Tree, and also worked at Hudlos’ Dry Cleaners.

Anita was first employed by the Marion Chronicle as Women’s editor and later by the Kokomo Tribune, winning several prizes in writing contests sponsored by the newspapers.

Anita’s first marriage was to Harold E. Lake of Marion.  Their surviving children are, Robert Wiley Lake, Lafayette, and Phillip Clinton Lake, Tipton, along with four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

On November 19, 1977, she was married in a ceremony at the First Congregational Church by the Rev. John Staton to Ronald L. Hall who owned and operated Thrifty Muffler of Lafayette.  After his retirement he became a member and worker for F.E.M.A., Federal Management of Emergency Management.  They traveled extensively in their motor home and by motorcycle. 

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Harold Kent Lake; and her daughter, Barbara Gail Lake.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo.  Cremation to follow service.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 12-2 pm Friday at the funeral home.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
