Anil Kumar Joshi departed on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the age of 64 after courageously battling chronic health conditions whilst surrounded by those that loved and cherished him.
A devoted husband and loving father to four beautiful daughters, Anil deeply cherished his family and friends. He was the pillar of strength and resilience for the family. He is preceded in death by his father, Ram Prakash Joshi, his mother, Pushpa Lata Joshi, and his younger brother, Sunil Joshi. He is survived by his wife, Ranjna, his daughters, Vani, Vidhi (Sunny Sharma), Vijayta, Vishali, and his sisters, Karuna Bali and Aruna Vasudev.
He was born Saturday, September 6, 1958 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India. Anil, alongside his two older sisters and late younger brother, grew up in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. As a child, Anil loved playing cricket, listening to classical Indian music, and discovering new talents. His early interest in music blossomed into a talent of playing many instruments including Dhol, Dholki, Tabla and Mridang. Anil was always the one to bring vibrant colors to any gathering through playing instruments, singing, and dancing. Laughter and music were in his genes; he would fill a room with light and happiness throughout.
Anil married his wife, Ranjna, on June 23, 1985 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. After they immigrated to the US in 1986, Anil and Ranjna moved through the Midwest where they settled in Kokomo, Indiana with their four daughters. In Kokomo, Anil created life-long friendships and endearing memories with family. With his close friends, Anil started the Indian Association of Kokomo (IAK), bringing together the Indian community to celebrate culture and heritage through song, dance, and festivities. Anil was a devout Hindu, fondly referred to as ‘Pandit Ji’ by those close to him. He embraced his culture and religion, and immersed himself as an active member of the community.
Anil was endlessly curious and was always up for a challenge. His passion for learning led him to earn dual undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology, an LLB Law degree, dual Masters of Science degrees in Chemistry and Material Sciences, and an MBA in Executive Management. His expansive career took him all over the world to China, Germany, the UK, Japan, and his favorite, Coimbatore, India.
Through hard work and discipline, Anil rose in his career. He began his career as a lab chemist, rose to manager at Haynes International, Inc., then spent the last eight years of his career in a director-level role at Praxair Surface Technologies.
In his retirement, Anil rekindled his love for music, cooking flavorful food, and watching cricket. Beyond all, he cherished spending his time with his family including their dog, Superman.
Anil Kumar Joshi will be remembered for his liveliness, impeccable sense of humor, and his love for everyone surrounding him. His legacy will live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched with his unrelenting support and unconditional love.
