Alberta "Tilley" Mae Reed

Alberta “Tilley” Mae Reed, 99, of Kokomo, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026. She was born September 14, 1926, the daughter of Charles H. and Lillian (McCleab) Tilley. On October 6, 1947, she married Raymond R. Reed at Trinity Methodist Church in Kokomo and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2019.

Tilley was a 1944 graduate of Kokomo High School. She worked at Indiana Bell, Superior Tool, and in production at General Motors/Delco Electronics. Tilley retired on February 1, 1987. She was a member of the American Legion Aux and the Local UAW 292. Tilley was a member of Judson Road Christian Church. She loved being with friends and family, playing dominos and euchre.

Tilley is survived by her adopted daughter, Judy (Gary) Bates; nephew Gary (Marla) Tilley; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Jeffery Reed; 6 sisters; and 4 brothers.

The family would like to thank Anew Hospice and the staff at the Crossing of Kokomo for the care provided to Tilley and her family.

A funeral service celebrating Tilley’s life will be held at 12 pm, Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd, Kokomo, with Pastor Gary Carpenter officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery will follow. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
