Rex Thomas Hale, 68, Russiaville, died at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at his home. He was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Monroe County, Ky., to Bill and Edith Ora (Curtis) Hale. He married Karen (Lawson) on May 4, 1962, in Russiaville, and she survives.
He retired from K & K Trucking in Greensburg, Tenn., in May 1999. He enjoyed NASCAR, was an avid fisherman, and loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Hale, Russiaville; children, Vincent Hale and his special friend, Kelly, Russiaville, Sheila Richter, Kokomo, Vance Hale, Kokomo, and Veronica Farr and her husband, Thomas, Maryland; brother, Bill Hale and wife Shirley, Russiaville; three sisters, Shelvy Leighty and husband Robert, West Middleton, Sue Redding, Kokomo, and Betty Smith and husband Richard "PeeWee," Russiaville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Josh Hale, Shane Richter, Vinessa Hale, Karen Richter, Cameron Farr, Corbin Farr, Regan Farr, and Landon Thomas Hale; and one great-grandchild, Alohnna Alvrez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents on both sides, and one daughter, Debra.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with the Rev. Paul Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
