Norma J. Schroll Harrison, 83, Kokomo, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, February 4, 2018.  She was born March 4, 1934, in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Marvin L. & Thelma V. (Mishler) Kottman.  She married Donald L. Schroll on August 23, 1953 who preceded her in death on July 17, 1993.  She then married David A. Harrison on November 26, 2005 and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2011.

Norma was a 1952 graduate of Aledo High School in Aledo, Illinois, and attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa.  She retired from Ambassador Steel Corporation after 21 ½ years of service.  Prior to Ambassador Steel, Norma worked with the Tipton County Health Department in Vital Statistics as well as with the research department for Trojan Seed Company and Pfizer Genetics.  She was also a member of Greentown Wesleyan Church.

Norma felt very blessed, and her greatest joy was to watch her children grow, mature, and excel in all their endeavors in school and in life.  She enjoyed cheering them on in all the sporting events they were involved in. Roses were one of her favorite flowers and she loved tending them. These last four years the rose bushes were beautiful at Primrose.  Most of all, Norma’s family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, were very important to her and she loved them very much.

Norma is survived by children, Catherine (Dan) LaValley, Battle Creek, MI, Jan McCorkle and companion, Jeffery Conaway, Tipton, Judy (Jeff) Franklin, Sharpsville, and Tim (Kathy) Schroll, Lafayette; grandchildren, Josh (Amy) Alley, Bloomington, Ryan (Alex) Schroll, Delphi, Jarrin (Jen) Franklin, Mooresville, Steven and significant other, Catie, LaValley, Raliegh, NC, Justin (Jenna) Franklin, Mt. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin L. & Thelma V. Kottman, husbands, step-fathers, Glen Stancliff, and Ralph Bailey, and sisters, Marlene Guthrie and Joyce V. Kottman.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Primrose Retirement Community, Waterford Place Health Campus, and Great Lakes Hospice. They also wish to express their love and gratitude to Norma’s personal caregivers, Shelly Asher, Lisa Whitehead, and Terri Besser for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 9, 2018, at Greentown Wesleyan Church, 120 N. Maple Street, Greentown, with Pastor Paul Boss officiating.  Burial will be at 11:00 am Saturday in Aledo Cemetery, Aledo, Illinois.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5-8 pm Thursday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Norma’s memory to Greentown Wesleyan Church.  Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.  Messages of condolence may be left at

I'm sorry to hear about Norma. I have good memories of your family -- you living on Dad's mail route, attending the same church, your dad singing, me growing up in the same house your mother lived in, and of course being in the same class as Cathy. May your memories sustain you in this time of sorrow.
