Doris J. Bean, 81, of Kokomo passed away at 6:45 am on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Kokomo Health Care. She was born on December 4, 1936 in Kokomo to Walter and Gertrude (Hoard) Brown. Doris was married  Lester L. Bean on January 19, 1957 and he passed away on October 24, 1999.

Doris was a 1955 Western High School graduate and worked for Cuneo Press in the bindery department. She was a member of Chapel Hill Christian Church and was a team mom for many  Russiaville Softball and little league teams. Doris loved to go fishing, traveling, loved animals and supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events. 

Survivors include her daughter Sheila (Chris Myers) Mayer of Kokomo; son-in-law Walt Hahn: eight grandchildren Joel Babcock, (Trinity Lux) Micah Babcock (Shelly Lennen), Bethany Babcock, Christian Babcock (Haley Wheeler), Hannah Babcock; Dustin Magnett, Jason Magnett, Johnny Hahn.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Gertrude Brown, husband Lester L. Bean, daughter Renita Magnett; sister Ruby Stanton, brother Glen Brown. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St. Russiaville.. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Kokomo Humane Society and the Howard County 4-H Fair. So sorry to read of Doris's passing. We started school together @Alto and were good friends until I moved away in the 5th grade. I started eating out with the Western Class of 56 a few yrs ago and was happy to see her there sometimes. She will be dearly missed. My sympathy and prayers, Janis (Exmeyer) Blue

I attended New London grade school and Western School with Doris, her brother and the Bean family. Also have know the Babcock family for many years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this sad and difficult time and beyond.
