Doris Marner, 83, formerly of Greentown, late of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully at Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota on Nov. 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born Nov. 12, 1933, to Eli and Verba (Bontrager) Beachy in Kokomo.

She was a graduate of Eastern High School and Indiana University Kokomo.

On Oct. 12, 1952, she married Alvin Marner who survives.

Doris had a long career in the nursing field as a RN working primarily in geriatric care.

She was an excellent cook, loved traveling, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

She and her husband attended Bayshore Mennonite Church in Sarasota and previously attended Howard-Miami Mennonite Church in Kokomo.

Doris is survived by her husband of 65 years; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Clark Weaver, Clayton, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Cheryl Marner, Noblesville; grandchildren, C.J. (Rachel) Weaver, Alexa Weaver, Bennett Weaver and Colin Marner; great-grandchildren, Nora, J.T. Weaver and Liam Weaver-Banks.

Friends and family may pay their condolences at Howard-Miami Mennonite Church Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Ben Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow the service in Christner Cemetery, Kokomo.

The family request memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice House and/or Howard-Miami Mennonite Church.
