Marjory R. (Marshall) Burnworth, 79, Swayzee, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Century Villa Heathcare, Greentown. She was born March 11, 1938, in Howard County to Glendel and Frances (Harper) Marshall. She married Ronald Burnworth in 1956, and he preceded her in death March 8, 1999. 

She had worked at Crane Naval Weapons Center, retiring in 1997. Marjory was a former member of the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion and was a former member of Tri Kappa in Bloomfield. She enjoyed going to her lake cottage on Kuhn Lake of the Barbee Chain and enjoyed watching her grandchildren fish. She loved spending time with her family. In retirement, she enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She was an avid IU basketball and football fan and also enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts. 

Survivors include son, Mark (Tracy) Burnworth; grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Brooklyn McNew, Audrey McNew; stepgrandchildren, Kyle Barker and Kelsey Barker; one stepgreat-grandchild, Brantley Barker. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, LeAnn Burnworth. 

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor Dave Stout officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, following the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are being handled by Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, Greentown. Online condolences may be made at

What a pleasure and privilege it has been to serve as Marjory's chaplain during her stay with us. She was a nice lady and we will miss her. I will especially miss our visits together.

Mark, I'm so sorry for your losses. After you told me about LeAnn's illness, I've periodically checked for information on her & just saw her obituary. In doing the search, I found your mom's as well. 2017 has been a tough year for you, & my thoughts are with you. Cherish the memories & find peace in them.
