Barbara J. Miller, 82, of Kokomo, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born November 16, 1934, in Howard County, to Robert and Opal (Sanders) Sutton.  On January 8, 1954, she married Joseph William Miller, and he preceded her in death on March 15, 1982.
Barbara graduated from Kokomo High School in 1953.  She retired from Kingston Products after 30 years of service and from Trialon Corporation after 15 years.  She enjoyed traveling and cherished spending time with her family. Barbara had a wonderful personality, caring and compassionate. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She guided her family with wisdom and generosity, and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Vince) Sampson, Peru, Ted (Lisa) Miller, Russiaville, and Tim (Tameka Thompson) Miller, Kokomo; grandchildren, Shanon (William Moefield) Sampson, Brandon (Sara) Sampson, Hoplen (Aaron) Starkey, Chantell (Dontell McCoy) Miller, Caleb (Kaylea Lucke) Miller and Nick (Alexis) Miller; great-grandchildren, Vince Taylor, Kayla Sampson, Colton Sampson, Gracie Sampson, Raelynn Sampson, Jace Carson, Jaydin Miller, Nickoa Miller, Rodney Starkey and Ryleigh Starkey; brother, Robert (Melanie) Sutton, Russiaville; brother-in-law, Clayton Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Mary (Robert) McClish, Shirley Hill, Joan (Bob) Shanks, Betty (Jim) Pearson, and grandson Travis Ryan Hyde. 
Family and friends are invited to visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the funeral home, with Pastor Steve Cole officiating.  Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be expressed online at
