M. Collene Ray, 90, of St. Germain, Wis., died on Jan. 27, 2017, in Lakeland, Fla.

Collene and her family purchased Pride o-th’North Resort in St. Germain, Wis., in 1956. She was a member of the Burlington Church of Christ and played piano for several churches.

Her love of music led her to share her talent through piano lessons and as a music teacher. She taught school in Michigantown, Ind., and Phelps, Wis. Collene earned a bachelor’s degree in 1948 from the Jordan Conservatory of Music at Butler University.

She liked reading, nature, being outside, and participating in sports, especially fishing and snowmobiling.

Born May 26, 1926, in Burlington, Ind., she graduated from Burlington High School in 1943. Collene married Cecil Ray Jr., on May 6, 1951.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Nellie Mae (Rinehart) Phillips and her husband Cecil Ray Jr.

She is survived by her brother, Byron (Paulene) Phillips, Lafayette, Ind.; niece, Selene Phillips (Mike Chappell), Floyds Knobs, Ind.; nephew, Todd Phillips (Ellen), Wis.; nephew Greg Ray, Lafayette, Ind.; niece, Sherry Ray; and several great-nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Neptune Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington. Pastor Curt Flora will officiate. Burial will follow at the Wildcat Cemetery in Lafayette. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Express condolences at www.stoutandson.com.
