Robert "Bob" Oilar Obituary

Robert E. “Bob” Oilar, 93, of Russiaville, died at 7:35 a.m. on June 28, 2016.  Bob was born February 22, 1923, in Clinton County, to the late Harry and Gladys (Seward) Oilar.  On December 12, 1942, he was married to his loving wife, Mary Kathryn Heaton, whom preceded him in death on November 11, 2015.

Bob was a 1941 graduate of Forest High School and was a farmer until his retirement.  He also drove a school bus for 44 years for Western School Corporation, where he remained an avid fan of their sports teams and band.

Bob served on the Russiaville Civil Defense Board, the Howard County Planning Commission, and the Russiaville Cemetery Board.  He was a Honey Creek Township Trustee for 24 years and a Honey Creek Township 4-H leader for twelve years.  He was also an active member of UCT and a member of Russiaville Masonic Lodge #82, the Shriners and the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.

He is survived by his children, Darlene (Gary) McCloud and Michael (Reba Diana) Oilar; four grandchildren, Shaughn (Tom) O’Neal, Christie (Dan) Borders, Jennifer (Rob) Templeman and Morgan Oilar; four great-grandchildren, Austin O’Neal, Elise Templeman, Bridger Borders and Grant Templeman; and four siblings, Mary Lucille (Glenn) Fisher, Betty Berry, Joan (Bob) Eller and Richard (Glenda) Oilar.

In addition to his wife, Mary Kathryn Oilar, he was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Max Berry.

The family would like to thank the St. Vincent/St. Joseph Kokomo Hospice, the staff of St. Vincent/St. Joseph Progressive Care Unit and Susan Vawter for the excellent care Bob received.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Darren Miracle officiating.  Burial will follow in Russiaville Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Point Christian Church of which Bob was a member, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice.  Messages of condolence may be expressed online at www.stoutandson.com.
