Paul J. Hillis

 Paul J. Hillis, 63, Kokomo, passed away Monday February 10, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born in Kokomo, IN on February 25, 1950 the son of Paul I. and Dorothy (Jackson) Hillis. On May 8, 1976 he married Mary J. Ade and she survives.
Paul grew up in Kokomo and graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington in 1972 and Florida Atlantic University-Boca Raton, FL. in 1975. He was a certified public accountant, certified financial planner and licensed in securities and insurance. He went on to open his accounting practice in 1981.
He enjoyed working with clients and solving their problems. He spent leisure time swimming at home with his family and vacationing on the beach in Florida. He loved to play and spend time with his grandchildren, Lincoln and Marie.
He was a member of Rotary and First Congregational Church and had been on the boards of several charitable organizations.
He is survived by his three children, Andrea Hillis McPike (Brian), Kokomo, Drew Hillis (Stefanie), Kempton, and Alex Hillis, Houston, TX; two brothers, Bruce Hillis (Julie) and John Hillis (Bobbi); as well as two grandchildren, Lincoln Hillis and Marie McPike.
Paul’s family offers their sincere thanks for all the prayers and support they have received. They greatly appreciate the understanding of all of their friends as they have delayed the funeral arrangements while they have been caring for Alex as he recovers from an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday February 19, 2014 at First Congregational Christian Church, 505 W. Mulberry St. Kokomo, with Pastor Gary Britton officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 West Lincoln Road and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grace on Wings, First Congregational Christian Church, or Judson Baptist Church. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home and church.
