Marjorie L. (Runyun) Dean

Marjorie L. Dean, 96, Greentown, died at 12:37 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 29, 2012, at Community Howard Regional Health. She was born Jan. 3, 1916, in Elwood, the daughter of Clyde and Celia (Tyner) Runyun. Her husband, Maurice Dean, preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1987.

Margie was a farm wife working along side her husband for 51 years until his death.

She loved her rural Phlox neighbors and enjoyed many hours of playing bridge and Euchre and visits with them. During their retirement years, they made their permanent residence in Lauderdale By The Sea, Fla., where she was an active member of the Community Church.

She will be remembered as always having a twinkle in her eyes and an infectious smile along with her classy style in fashion and shoes. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sewing. Margie saw life as a glass half full. She never met a stranger and will be sadly missed by her children, family and loved ones.

She is survived by two daughters, Lila Broughton, Kokomo, and Susan (Ralph) Taylor, Arcadia; a son, Larry (Sheryl) Dean, Greentown; grandchildren, James Broughton, Andrea (Blaine) McMurty, Brad (Krissy) Dean, Ryan (Lindsay) Hulet and Bret (Lori) Hulet; great-grandchildren, Adam Earnheart, Chaz McMurty, Emma Hulet and Griffin Hulet; sister, Wilmetta (Bill) Whitaker; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Maurice, son Wayne, and granddaughter Jane Earnheart.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Pastor Carl Roudebush officiating. Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 2 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Windfall Christian Church with envelopes available at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Hasler and Stout Funeral Home, Greentown.
