Leona May McKoon Obituary

Leona May McKoon, 84, Peru, died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo. She was born July 17,1924, in Cass County, the daughter of Jesse and Iva (Yoder ) Fife. On Jan. 17, 1946, in Kokomo, she married Durfee McKoon, who survives.

She was homemaker and retired from Delco Electronics in July 1984. She attended Kokomo High School. She was a member of Eastpointe Bible Church in Peru and used to attend Temple Baptist Church. She enjoyed golfing, crocheting, oil painting and family.

Survivors are her husband, Durfee McKoon, Peru; two sons, Gary (Kathy) McKoon, Russiaville; Bob (Sandy) McKoon, Wabash; a sister, Sandy (Don) Wisher, Greentown; grandchildren, Tina (Richard) Allender, Tiffany (Jeremy) Moore, Wendy (Andrew) Vandenbosch, Jody (Richard) Lashbrook and Brad McKoon; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at Stout and Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville. Pastor Jim Butler and Deacon Kris Marks are officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Kokomo. Friends may call from noon until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
