Wayne Downs

Earl Wayne Downs, 94, Greentown, passed away at 5:50 pm Monday, December 9, 2019, at Wesleyan Health Care in Marion.  He was born December 8, 1925, in Alpha, Indiana, the son of the late Jacob & Ida Mae (Everhart) Downs.  Wayne is survived by his wife of 74 years Eva (Ray) Downs.

Wayne was a graduate of Scottsburg High School.  He served with the United States Army as a Paratrooper during WWII.

Wayne retired from TransAmerican Freight Lines as a truck driver after 30 years of service.  He had previously worked as a farmer.  Wayne was a member of the Greentown Masonic Lodge and the Greentown American Legion.

Along with his wife Eva, Wayne is survived by his sons, Donald Wayne Downs, and Michael Ray Downs; along with 5 granddaughters, Beth Downs, Nancy Evans, Bronwyn Gardner, Morgan Downs and Nicole Downs; and 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. 

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
