Wanda Jackson Obituary

Wanda L. Jackson, 79, Kokomo, entered the gates of Heaven and into the arms of her Heavely Father and waiting relatives, and dear friends at 12:40 am Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Golden Living Center in Kokomo.  She was born July 13, 1939, in Howard County, the daughter of the late Clifton and Lillie (Neal) York.  On March 28, 1959, at Parr Methodist Church, she married Wayne Keith Jackson, who preceded her in death February 16, 2017.

Wanda was a 1957 graduate of Northwestern High School. She was a 25 year plus member of the Howard Eastern Star #89 of Kokomo and the Ladies of the Grotto Auxiliary.  She was the Secretary and treasury of the Auxiliary.  Wanda had been past Mighty Chosen One of Ibn Saud Caldron #85 in 1975, and past Mighty Chosen One of Gao Caldron #48 of Danville IL in 1999. She was a member of Supreme Daughters of Mokanna, Booster Club of Kokomo and was the current Secretary and Treasurer.  Wanda was very active with her husband in the Grotto.  She traveled with him and they visited many Grottoes in the Realm thru out the United States and Canada. 

Wanda loved to travel, and have family dinners on the holidays, she enjoyed her family and was proud of all her children and step-children.  She loved them all the same.  Christmas was her favorite holiday.  Wanda worked for Kolux Corp for 20 years before the company moved from Kokomo.  After she left Kolux, she attended Ivy Tech for 2 years, then she was a stay at home empty nest mother and wife.  She was a member of Parr United Methodist Church. 

Wanda is survived by her children, Anita Sue (Byron) Jackson Schaeffer, Burlington, Steven Wayne Jackson, Kokomo, Vivian Anne Jackson Ramer, Kokomo, and Christopher Allen Jackson, Kokomo; grandchildren, Dustin Ramer, Joshua (Tracy) Ramer, Steve (Morgan) Jackson, Jr, Kylie Jackson, Allison (Chad) Ailor Exemeyer, all of Kokomo, Andrew Schaeffer, Burlington, Alex (Sarah) Ailor, Greentown, and Sara Jackson (Damon Thomas), of Seattle, Washington, along with several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends.  

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Michelle Lee Jackson; and grandson, Shane Schaeffer.

Funeral services for Wanda will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Dan Butcher officiating.  Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com
