Wade Moyers Obituary

Wade G. Moyers, 78, Russiaville, passed away at 11:44 am Saturday, September 8, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born January 31, 1940, in Goins, TN, the son of the late Conard & Edith (Keck) Moyers. On August 15, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley A. Coffey and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Wade was a 1958 graduate of Claiborne County High School in Tennessee. He then served with the United States Army for 3 years. Wade retired in 1993 from Chrysler Corp, where he worked in the tool crib and was affectionately known as “Hillbilly.” He met his co-workers for a monthly breakfast for many years afterwards. He later also worked 12 years as a patient transport driver for Howard Regional Rehab.

Wade was a faithful member of Honey Creek Missionary Baptist Church and he loved the Lord and his church family. He was a passionate fan of the University of Tennessee and enjoyed watching the Volunteers play.

Along with his wife, Shirley, Wade is also survived by his children, Tammie L. (Erik Therkildsen) Warren, Varna, Bulgaria, and J. Greg (DeAnna) Moyers, Kokomo; grandchildren, Jens Therkildsen, Devin (Kylie) Moyers, and Derek Moyers (Makayla Boynton); brother, Thurman Eugene (Doris) Moyers and “sister,” Betty Hopper; several in-laws, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Wade loved his family and especially his grandsons, whom he often referred to as “his world.” He was known for his kind heart, “not a mean bone in his body,” and his Christian morals and values will remain an admirable example for all who knew him. Wade had a keen sense of humor and playful whit that will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. He was a constant source of entertainment bringing endless laughs and smiles.

Wade’s family would like to express gratitude to St. Vincent Hospital’s medical staff and St. Vincent’s home healthcare team for their professional and compassionate care-giving.
