Virgil Lee Spencer, 70, Greentown, went to be with the Lord at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019. He was born, in Kokomo, Indiana, on August 9, 1949 to Donald Lee and Rosemary (Mohler) Spencer.
He graduated from Eastern High School in 1967. He also played on the Eastern Football team that had 37 wins in a row. He married Jennie (Grinslade) Spencer on July 16, 1971, and she survives.
He served in the United States Army from August 1969 until May 1971. He had worked at Chrysler Corporation retiring after 42 ½ years of service.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Greentown. He was also a member of Greentown Lions Club, Greentown Masonic Lodge #341, Eastern Star #195 and UAW Local 685. He had also served as a 4-H leader for 30 years. Virgil had also volunteered for Eastern Howard Ambulance Service for 15 years.
He is survived by son, David Lee (Karyl) Spencer; daughters, Brenda Lee (Brad) Fife and Jody Lee (Fiancé, Ryan Adkins) Alexander; and grandchildren, Bailey Spencer, Jase Spencer, Brooke Fife and Dakota Lee Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. followed by a Masonic service at 5:00 p.m. at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main Street, Greentown.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. with an hour of visitation before the service also at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home with Pastor Russ Patton and Pastor Michael Goodspeed officiating. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion #317 and/or the Greentown Masonic Lodge #341.
