Vernon Eugene Weesner, 57, Kokomo, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born February 1, 1962, in Kokomo, to Bernard Oren and Janice Kay (Glassburn) Weesner. On July 4, 1979, he married Jana Rae Cook, in Kokomo, and she survives.
Vernon graduated from Maconaquah High School in 1980 and worked for Chrysler for 24 years. He loved fishing, hunting, being outdoors and spending time with family. He also loved cooking and sharing with people how he made things. He was an avid Seahawks fan since day one in 1974 and also enjoyed watching NASCAR. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and UAW Local 685 and a lifetime member of the NRA.
In addition to his wife, Jana Rae Weesner, he is survived by his sons, Kristopher Edward Weesner, of Kokomo, and Michael Lorne (Darian) Weesner, of Kokomo; granddaughter, Evalyn K.R. Weesner; father and step-mother, Barnard and Karen Weesner, of Salem; mother and step-father, Janice and William “Bill” Smith, of Sharpsville; sister, Sheryl Anne (Stephanie) Mikel, of Smyrna, Tennessee; brother, Mitchell (Faith) Weesner, of Peru; brother-in-law, Michael (Roberta) Cook, of Monticello; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Ray Tetrault officiating. Friends are invited to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in Vernon’s memory to We Care.
