Thomas Nash Obituary

Thomas J.A. Nash, 97, Kokomo, passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo.  He was born June 18, 1922, in High Wycombe, England, to Thomas Henry and Mary (Bain) Nash.  On February 21, 1942, he married Catherine Malcolm, in Edinburgh, Scotland, and she preceded him in death on January 27, 2016.

Thomas served in the British Royal Navy during World War II and was stationed in Bombay, India.  He went on to work as a mechanical engineer in the shipyards in Scotland and later as a millwright at Chrysler for 24 years.  He enjoyed painting, puzzle books, poetry and musical instruments and was a member of the United Methodist Church Choir.

Survivors include his children, Dorothy (Don) Green, Kokomo, Tom (Marsha) Nash, Largo, Florida, and Kathleen (Bill) Parson, Kokomo; five grandchildren, Scott Nash, St. Pete, Florida, Joyce Hampton, Romney, Indiana, Heather (Mark) James, St. Pete, Florida, Jon (Karen) Green, Kokomo, and Bruce Parson, Kokomo; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, George Nash, Edinburgh, Scotland; nephews, Malcolm Barron, Spain, and Derek Nash, Edinburgh, Scotland; nieces, Norma Price, Edinburgh, Scotland, Christine Watson, England, Linda Burton, Parrish, Florida, Shirley Pickering, Kokomo, Debra Green, Edinburgh, Scotland, Sylvia (Mark) Hamilton, Edinburgh, Scotland, and Joyce (Tam) Aitchison, Edinburgh, Scotland; and his beloved cat, Patches.

In addition to his wife of 73 years, Catherine Nash, he was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Millicent Cato.

Private burial will take place in Albright Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Thomas’ memory to the Kokomo Humane Society.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, Kokomo.
