Thelma Louise (Gaiser) Sottong

After a brief encounter with cancer, Thelma Louise Sottong passed away at her daughter’s residence on January 2, 2019.  She met the love of her life, Lewis P. Sottong, who preceded her in death on December 20, 1983.  They were married on November 10, 1946.  She was born on September 5, 1927 to Lawrence M. and Zola Gaiser in Tipton County.

After graduation from Tipton H.S. in 1945 she worked at Farmers Loan and Trust until beginning a family.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  She worked in PTA and school lunch program and supported her children’s activities.  Later in life she participated in Singular Unity and enjoyed crafts and word search.  She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia, Kokomo, and son, Stephen, Eureka, CA.

She was preceded in death by 3 sons, James, John, and mark, and daughter-in-law, Joy Thomas.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Ascension St. Vincent and Guardian Angel Hospice for their care in her last 12 days of life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday January 7, 2019, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Brian Dudzinski the celebrant.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-5 pm Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo.  In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Thelma’s memory to Guardian Angel Hospice.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
