Thelma Eunice Shupperd, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 8:25 am Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born September 23, 1936, in Union County, TN, the daughter of the late Clerdun Sheckles & Hattie Corn. On July 1, 1955, she married Richard Shupperd who preceded her in death on January 21, 2002.
Thelma was a homemaker who loved to collect anything with owls on it. Her most favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.
Thelma is survived by her children, Deborah (Barkley) James, Kokomo, Diana Oleszkewycz, Kokomo, Richard (Suk) Shupperd, Newburgh, IN, Anthony Shupperd, Kokomo, Monica Shupperd, Peru, Vickie (Bill) McCoy, Logansport, Kimberly Shupperd, Kokomo, and Eric (Dawn) Shupperd, Windfall; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles “Glen” Sheckles, Kokomo.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Jack Sheckles, Hassie Esslinger, Laverne Sheckles, Lillian Nelson, and Ollie Waits; grandson, Carl J.; great-grandson, Matthew Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Ashton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Rachel Rhoades officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11-1 pm Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thelma’s memory to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.
