Thelma I. Long 95, of Kokomo, passed away at 9:47 am Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Northwoods Village. Thelma was born, in Claiborne County, Tennessee, on January 18, 1923. to Marion and Ollie (Brooks) Woodard. Her marriage to James Edward Long was on June 5, 1943. He proceeded her in death on May 7, 2009.
Thelma was a homemaker but also had done in-home healthcare. She was a member of Honey Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Russiaville, and Colburn Road Baptist Church, Delphi. She was very active being a pastor's wife. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening and going to auctions.
Survivors include sons, Wayne Long (Elaine), Boyd Long (Pearl), David Long (Carolyn), and Rickey Long; daughter, Glenda Minton; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruby Ellis and Mary Wimmer; and nieces, Margie Whittaker, Connie Weaver and Carolyn Snow.
She was proceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Effie Brooks, Lealie Martin, Flossie Yeary, and Leslie Muncie; brothers, Elmer Woodard and Willard Woodard; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 am Monday, December 3, 2018, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville, with Pastor Cliff Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2pm – 4pm Sunday, December 2, 2018, also at the funeral home.
