Shirley Jean Parks, 82, Kokomo, passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at The Legacy at Waterford Place. She was born May 6, 1936, in Howard County, to Richard and Mary (Bowman) Ross. On June 2, 1956, she married Robert M. Parks, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2001.
Shirley graduated from Northwestern High School in 1955. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and loved her family, Elvis, John Wayne, Roy Rogers and her dog, Penny Sue. She also enjoyed her favorite foods: coffee, chocolate, candy, cookies, strawberries and Rally’s. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed attending Liberty Baptist Church in Groomsville.
She is survived by her children, Randy (Patty) Parks, Mindy (Jim) Hughes and Bobby (Debbie) Parks; grandchildren, Jen (Doug) Deardorff, Kenny (Jennifer) Parks, Troy (Candra) Parks, Kaci Wray and Cody (Briana) Parks; great-grandchildren, Cadon, Bailey, Kinsley, Jenson, Brahm, Trinity, Trista, Collten and Addi; sisters, Betty Powell, Pat Pickett, Mary Wyrick, Becky (Richard) Brown and Miriam (Everett) Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Jason Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
