Shirley Ann Baker, 84, Kokomo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2019. She was born December 25, 1934, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of the late Donald Phillips & Florence (Springer) Walker, but lived most of her life in Kokomo.
Shirley’s faith sustained her throughout her life. She was compassionate and cared for all. Her laugh and charm were contagious and brought a smile to everyone. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Janet Bailey of Kokomo; three daughters, Diana (Wendell) Spires of Kokomo, Paralee “P.J.” (Rick) Parsons of Sharpsville, and Kimberly Williams (Jean Blackwell) of Indianapolis; and her beloved dog, Pixie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Beahrs, Cory Dowden, Jimmie Scott, Rachel Parsons, Balee Parsons, and Sarah Bolan, all living in the Kokomo or Indianapolis area; along with numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Baker; and her daughter, Cindy Bolan.
Shirley lived a life that was “full to the brim”. Her wonderful spirit and joy will be celebrated at a visitation from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm Thursday August 22, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. A graveside service will follow at 6:00 pm Thursday in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with Pastor Bill Salsbery officiating.
