Robert Scott Burton, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 2:15 am, Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at his home. He was born November 1, 1932, in Kokomo, the son of the late Charles William & Julia Alta (Sweezey) Burton. On January 16, 1954, in Kokomo, he married Patricia Ann Darlin and she survives. In 1964 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
Scott served with the United States Army Corp of Combat Engineers from 1950-1953, having served in Germany. He retired from Kokomo Spring after 39 years of service. After retirement he went to work for Kokomo Center School Corporation for 4 years as a custodian. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Along with his wife Patricia, Scott is survived by his children, Scott Jr. (Estelle) Burton, Mike (Margarita) Burton, Chris Burton, and Connie K. (best friend, Christie Wininger) Burton; grandchildren, Michelle Parsons, Scott Burton, Evan Burton, Kimberly Weinzierl, Jason Burton, Corey Burton, Kristi Henry, Brandon Burton, Clarissa Naihe, Jason Rodriguez, Steven Rodriguez, Eric Rodriguez, Betzy Lopez, German Urzua, and Emi Urzua; thirteen great grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis (Shelby) Pettry, and Nancy Burton; brothers-in-law, Larry Darlin, Tom (Linda) Darlin; and sister-in-law, Judy (Bob) Crull, along with several nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 13, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 332 Center Road, Kokomo, with Bishop Dennis Marler officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made in Scott’s memory to the American Heart Association.
