Rosabelle P. (Crites) Kirkman

Rosabelle P. Kirkman, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Golden Living Center Sycamore Village, in Kokomo.  She was born November 8, 1928, in Howard County, to Raymond and Lois (Gillam) Crites.  On May 2, 1948, she married Vernis T. Kirkman, and he survives.

Rosabelle graduated from Ervin Township High School in 1947.  After high school, she went to work for First National Bank & Trust, retiring after 20 years of service.  She also worked for Dietzens Bakery for 15 years, Orestes Canning Factory in Galveston in the office, Indiana License Bureau in Kokomo, Accurate Parts Factory, and the Singer Sewing Center.  Rosabelle was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church where she served for many years as treasurer.  She volunteered with the Kokomo Park Band where she played the Alto Sax and sang for many years and was a charter member of Country Friends Extension Homemaker Club for over 50 years.

Along with her husband Vernis, Rosabelle is survived by her children, Ramona Duncan, and Charles Kirkman; grandchildren, Todd (Missy) Kirkman, Stacy (Tim) Smith, and Bradley (Piper) Duncan; 2 step-granddaughters; great-grandchildren, Allie Kirkman, Cindy Lou Kirkman, and Kole Kirkman; 3 step-great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Larry (Jennifer) Kirkman.

Rosabelle was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Kirt Kirkman; sister, Phyllis Jean Crites; aunts, Ruth Brower, and Vera Gillam; step-father, Clifford Smith; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Kirkman; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Della and Charles Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 13, 2019, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main Street, Russiaville, with Pastor John Newman officiating.  Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to service on Friday.  Memorial contributions may be made in Rosabelle’s memory to Poplar Grove United Methodist Church.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.stoutandson.com.
