Robert Edward Knolinski

Robert Edward Knolinski, 86, Kokomo, passed away Monday December 3, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.  He was born December 30, 1931, in Antigo, WI, the son of the late Edward & Helen (Stolzman) Knolinski.  On December 29, 1952, in St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church in Antigo, WI, he married Joan Arveson who preceded him in death on December 11, 2001. 

Robert received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1953.  In March of 1954, he joined the United States Army as a project officer with the 4^th Signal Group in Heidelberg, Germany.  He moved to Kokomo and began his career in electrical engineering at Delco Radio in 1956.  He earned his MS degree in Engineering from Purdue University in 1966.  He was awarded several patents and had a distinguished career.  He retired from Delco Electronics after 36 years.

Robert was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church serving in many capacities, such as the Lay Advisory Board, and President of St. Joan of Arc School Board.  He was also a member, past President, and Chairman of the Board of the Kokomo Engineering Society, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Robert is survived by his children, Catherine (Charles) Van Horn, Michigan City, Carol Knolinski, Kokomo, Barbara Knolinski, Aurora, IL, Edward Knolinski, Kokomo, and James (Cassandra) Knolinski, Kokomo; grandchildren, Amanda (Joshua) Tilden, Allen Van Horn, Grace Ellen Knolinski, and Jyllian Knolinski, along with three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, December 10, 2018, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 W., Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Matthew Arbuckle the celebrant.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-5 pm Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to the Knolinski Family Scholarship Fund through the Community Foundation of Howard County for degrees in mathematics, accounting, science, and/or engineering.  Shirley & Stout Funeral Home were entrusted with arrangements.
