Robert Lee Denton, 80, passed away on June 21, 2019. He was born June 27, 1938 in Gainesboro, Tennessee, the son of the late Amon and Etta Sue (Wiley) Denton. On September 26, 1958 he married the love of his life Peggy Sue, who survives.
Robert attended high school in Burlington, Indiana. He was a corporal in the National Guard and Reserves. Robert worked at the Crescent Dairy, Continental Steel Mill and retired from Kokomo Center Schools. Robert loved spending time with his family and dog Cooper, camping, fishing and bluegrass festivals.
Along with his wife Peggy, Robert is survived by his children, Robert (Kathy) Denton Jr., Terry (Karen) Denton, and Jennifer (Kirk) Paprocki; grandchildren, Robert (Ashley) Denton III, Barry Denton, Blake (Morgan Carroll) Denton, Chelsea (Stewart) Matlock, Jeffrey (Hannah) McKay, Jake Schmidt, and Noah Paprocki; great-grandchildren, Baley and Brayden Matlock, Taylor Schmidt and Gannon Denton; brother- in-law, Jim Kesterson; nieces and nephew, Diana TenBrook, Melinda Kesterson, and Jim (Karen) Kesterson.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Kesterso; and his in laws, Jenny & Chet Songer, and Louie Burgan.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Annan, Dr. Pfeifer, the nurses on the 2nd floor of St. Vincent Hospital, hospice nurses Mary & Molly of St. Vincent Hospice, Steve Sherwood and Mike Cunningham.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Steve Sherwood officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to St. Vincent Hospice.
