Richard B. Price

Richard B. Price, 93, Greentown, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019, in Century Villa Healthcare, Greentown.  He was born September 1, 1926, to Russell and Georgia (Meroney) Price.  On June 5, 1948, he married Reba Webb in Frankfort, Indiana and they were married 71 years before her passing on August 14, 2019.

After graduating from Jefferson High School he served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1946 serving two tours in the South Pacific in the Philippines and Okinawa.  Dick played basketball and football for Canterbury College graduating with a bachelor’s degree and Ball State University with a Master’s degree.  He was a teacher and coach at Scircilville High School from 1951 until 1957 before moving to Greentown to teach and coach for Eastern High School from 1957 until retiring in 1988.  He was the Eastern High School offensive and defensive line coach during their 37 game winning streak.  He also coached the B team and varsity basketball.  After coaching he was Eastern High School’s Athletic Director for many years.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law Sharon Kay (Michael) Sheridan. Grandchildren, Derek (Stephanie) Sheridan, Douglas (Tricia) Sheridan and Kara (Shane) Kretz.  Four great grandchildren, Luke Sheridan, Sophie, Reid and Tessa Kretz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Reba Price and brother, Russell J. Price, Jr.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E. Main St. Greentown.  Funeral services will be Wednesday with one hour of calling before the service from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Russ Patton officiating.  Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown with military rites by the America Legion Post #317.  Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E.
