Ray Eugene “Radical Ray” Shanks, 54, Kokomo, passed away at 3:33 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born June 6, 1964 in Kokomo to James and Brenda (Waggle) Shanks. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Johnny Chadwick. On September 4, 2006 he married Jacqueline Jones, who survives.
Ray worked at the Chrysler Casting Plant at the time of his death, serving 33 years.
Ray was a proud Golden Gloves Boxer who loved racing and enjoyed building and racing stock-cars. He will be remembered as loyal and generous as he was always helping others and putting them before himself. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his parents, James Shanks and Brenda (Johnny) Chadwick; wife, Jacqueline Shanks; children, Shauna Shanks and Julian Shanks; step-children, Larry Loyd and Charles Loyd; grandchildren, Lola, Draven, Cameron, Ethan, Joey, Jocelyn, and Treydon; sisters, Denise (Wayne) Byars and Renee (Bobby) Peak; brother, Matt Shanks; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brandi Walker and brother, L J Chadwick.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery.
