Paul Harry “Rooster” Linder, 72, Kokomo, passed away at 8:30 pm Monday, March 11, 2019, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. He was born July 25, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Walter E. Sr. & Angela D. (Smith) Linder. On October 1, 2010, he married Emily A. Curry and she survives.
Paul was a 1964 graduate of Division Avenue High School. He continued his education earning a bachelor’s degree in 1968, a master’s degree in 1971, and an educational specialist degree in 1982 all from Ball State University. Paul began teaching with Kokomo Center Schools in 1968, retiring in 2004. During his time with Kokomo Center Schools, he taught at Sycamore Elementary and Middle School, served as Assistant Principal for the Kokomo High School downtown campus, and Principal for Bon Air Elementary Middle School. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon-social fraternity at Ball State University. Paul coached many different youth sports over the years and kept the clock at all of the Kokomo High School football games for over 30 years.
Along with his wife Emily, Paul is survived by his children, Janelle (Chad) McIntyre, Indianapolis, Heather (Malachi) West, Indianapolis, and Douglas (Jaime) Linder, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kilian Linder, Aidan Linder, Declan Linder, Cian Linder, Molly McIntyre, Megan McIntyre, and Kellen West; and brother, Walter Linder Jr.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, March 15, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
