Naomi L. (Kenworthy) McCleary

Naomi L. McCleary, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 4:50 am Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Kokomo Place.  She was born August 22, 1933, in Peru, the daughter of the late George & Adah (McNutt) Kenworthy.  On September 29, 1951, she married John F. McCleary who survives.

Naomi graduated from Peru High School and Indiana Business College.   She retired in 1990 from Public Service of Indiana after 23 years of service as a secretary.  Naomi was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and taught piano at her home.  She enjoyed sewing, traveling, and going to musicals.

Along with her husband John, Naomi is survived by her children, Jon McCleary, Julie (Doug) Arnold, and Jane (Terry) Heltzel; grandchildren, Derek McCleary, Sean (Brittney) McCleary, Matt McCleary, Megan (Joe) McCleary, Ian (Sonia) Arnold, Adam Arnold, Emily Arnold, Stephanie (Adam) Wrightsman, and Abby (Blake) Burnett, along with 9 great-grandchildren.

Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim McCleary; and sister, Marilyn Caple.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Brian Cook officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-3 pm Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Naomi’s memory to the Kokomo Humane Society.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
