Nancy Pierce Obituary

Nancy Ann (Echelbarger) Pierce, 63, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 9:10 p.m. at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. She had bravely and courageously battled illness for two years, and her daughter was by her side as she passed from this life.

Nancy was born on June 23, 1956 to William and Virginia (Harper) Croddy. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1974 and from Clark’s Beauty Academy in 1978. She worked as a beautician for 40 years until her sickness would no longer allow.

Throughout her life, she loved being with people and sharing her creative talents. In high school, she was involved with the Sparkettes and Comet Tones. In the 1970's, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Nancy loved children, and they loved her. She was involved with Parents Without Partners, where she met many of her lifelong friends. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, shopping, participating in craft shows, and traveling to Myrtle Beach with her friends and family.

She was also a talented cook and caterer and loved to share her cooking with other people.

She adored being “Nena” to her grandchildren, and they brought much joy to her life.

Most of all, Nancy loved southern gospel music and was privileged to be part of several singing groups through the years, including: Promised Land Singers, Family Ties, and Divine Purpose. She formed treasured friendships with her singing friends, and they will miss her deeply.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Lora Lee (Echelbarger) Wilson and son-in-law, Johnny Wilson, Bunker Hill; granddaughters, Kelsey Kinslow and Kendall Wilson, Bunker Hill; and grandson, Korbin Wilson, Bunker Hill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Virginia Croddy; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wilson; and her dear friend, Nita Echelbarger, who passed away earlier this year.

A special thank you to St. Vincent Hospice, for all the love and support they provided. Molly, Michelle, Deb, and Ellen were angels on earth.

And a huge thanks to the faithful friends, neighbors, and cousin, Ruthella Storer, who loved Nancy well, until the end.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to help cover final expenses.
