Mary Jane (Waltman) Fye

Mary Jane “Mom” Fye, 90, Kokomo, passed away at 5:50 pm Sunday, June 10, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born October 9, 1927, in Kokomo.  She was the daughter of the late Orville C.  & Amelia (Kronenberg) Waltman.  On July 7, 1946, she married John L. Fye at Galveston United Brethren Church, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1986.

Mary was a 1945 graduate of Kokomo High School.  She retired from First Federal Savings & Loan after 25 years of service.  Mary was a member of Chapel Hill Christian Church.  She volunteered regularly for Community Howard Regional Health and St. Vincent Hospitals.  She loved to read, watch movies, tending her flowers, watching the birds, and especially enjoyed her time spent at Lake Shafer.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Barbara E. (Dennis) Fye-Johnson, and Sue A. Fye; grandchildren, Christina (Kris) Rice, Misty (William) Brown, and Jennifer (Jason) Garrison; great-grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Messmann, Joseph (Paige) Rice, Kyle Rice, Austin Ochoa, Merisah Al-Jayashi, and Michael Garrison, and 5 great-great-grandchildren;  siblings, Carol (Ron) Fleenor, and David (Bonnie) Waltman, along with several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Dorothy Kellar.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Hall Waltman, Glenn Waltman, and Jack Waltman; and close friend, Doris Stevens.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, June 15, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Steve Allen officiating.  Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:30-1:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
