Mary Elizabeth Hammersley, 94, Kokomo, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Primrose Assisted Living in Kokomo. She was born April 11, 1925, in Atwood, to Russell and Hazel (Parks) Marsh. On October 24, 1946, she married Robert E. Hammersley, and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1992.
Mary graduated from Atwood High School in 1943. She worked as a sales clerk in Arizona, where she lived for 21 years, and at Elder Beerman in Kokomo. Mary enjoyed crafting, playing euchre and attending her grandchildren’s ballgames and was a big Cubs fan. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center and Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Dallas (Ty) Calloway; granddaughters, Wendy (Mike) Wise and Betsy Dieter; great-grandsons, Cole and Blake Wise; siblings, James Marsh and Virginia Baker; nephew, Jerry Marsh, who grew up in the family home; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Helen Sauer.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Monday, July 22, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo, with Pastor Oscar Ramos officiating. Burial will take place in Stony Point Cemetery in Atwood. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. until Noon on Monday at the funeral home.
