Mary Kathleen "Kathy" (Cade) Ewing

Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Ewing, 65, Kokomo, passed away at 9:29 pm Friday April 19, 2019, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo.  She was born December 23, 1953, in Tipton, the daughter of the late Ralph & Clela Mae (Brunner) Cade.  On June 17, 1971, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, she married Michael E. Ewing and he survives.

Kathy was a 1971 graduate of Carroll High School.  After graduation she went to school through St. Joseph Hospital to become a surgical tech and was employed with them for 46 years.  She was a talented chef who enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and reading.  Kathy loved life, and loved her grandchildren. She loved to joke around and cut up, and was always helping those in need. To know her was to love her.

Along with her husband Mike, Kathy is survived by her children, Matt (Jennifer) Ewing, Amanda (Stephan) Glenn, Melanie Axum (Jay Homme), and Kara (Markece) Simon; grandchildren, Travelle Stigger, Tanae Stigger, Desiree Glenn, Devin Johnson, Stephan Glenn Jr., Dezren Glenn, Alicia Axum, Ian Axum, Lexis Homme, Isiah Homme, Caden Ewing, Cameron Ewing, Caleb Ewing, Christian Drewery Jr., Caitlyn Drewery, and Camiah Drewery; siblings, Ralph (Shelia) Cade Jr., and Virginia Siler, along with several nieces and nephews. 

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Louise Huckabee; and grandson, Zachary Ewing.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. Matthew Arbuckle the celebrant.  Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory to Shirley & Stout Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
