Martin Anderson Obituary

Martin A. Anderson, 89, Burlington, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2019, at Waterford Health Campus in Kokomo. He was born July 15, 1929, in DelNorte, Colorado, to the late Fred and Berniece (Adair) Anderson. On January 14, 1949, he married Louise (McCoy) Anderson, who preceded him in death on May 17, 2018.

Martin graduated from Burlington High School in 1947 and owned and operated the Anderson Standard Station for over 30 years. In addition, he worked for Carroll School Corporation for 10 years. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, bowling, and fishing. Martin was a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge, Burlington Volunteer Fire Department, Scottish Rites, and was a charter member of the Burlington Faith Church of Christ.  

Martin is survived by his children, Patricia (Steve) Cunningham, Kokomo, Jeanne (Mike) Adams, Russiaville, and Richard (Madonna) Anderson, Burlington; grandchildren, Chris (Amber) Adams, Scott (Gretchen) Adams, Amy D. Cunningham, Travis (Amy) Cunningham, Niki (Danny) Coleman, Karissa (Scott) McCormick, and Brandon (Ashley) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Emily Adams, Alexandra Adams, Gabrielle Adams, Leigha Adams, Norah Adams, Noelle Adams, Miles Cunningham, Nolan Cunningham, Brooks Cunningham, Emma Shelley, Jaxon Anderson, Brandon Anderson Jr., Evin Anderson, Sienna McCormick, and Cassidy Coleman.

In addition to his wife Louise, he was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Allen Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 25, 2019, following a Masonic Service with the Burlington Masonic Lodge, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, 44 Michigan St., Burlington, with Pastor Dave Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Burlington Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Martin’s memory to the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department, Burlington Masonic Lodge, or the Burlington Food Pantry.
