Marilyn Jean (Johannes) Wright

Marilyn Jean (Johannes) Wright, 90, Kokomo, passed away at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at her home.  She was born September 13, 1929, at home, in Kokomo, to Clarence L. and Claudia L. (Fitzsimmons) Johannes.  On June 8, 1951, she married Carl L. Padfield, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1954.  On November 26, 1965, she married Robert L. Wright, and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1997.

Marilyn graduated from Kokomo High School in the class of 1947.  She worked part-time and summers at W.H. Turner Department Store and started full-time at Haynes Stellite in June of 1947.  She retired on September 1, 1986 only to return in February of 1987 to handle a special project for the international department which ended on June 30, 1988.  In total, she had 46 years of employment with Haynes.  Marilyn loved her animals and enjoyed watching the birds and deer that came into the yard of the home she designed.

Survivors include her son, Kevin L. Padfield and friends, Cathy and Patrick McCrumb.

In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., Kokomo.  Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit from Noon until 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Kokomo Humane Society.  Messages of condolence may be expressed online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
