Mabel Lucille "Lucy" (Brock) Huskey

Mabel Lucille “Lucy” (Gillespie) Huskey, 88, Kokomo, passed away at 3:30 am Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Bloom at Kokomo.  She was born October 12, 1930, in Creech’s Coal Camp, Wallins Creek, Harlan County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Bill & Mary Gladys (Simpson) Brock.  On November 22, 1950, she married Frank Gillespie who preceded her in death in 1996.  She then married John Huskey on February 14, 1999 who preceded her in death on April 26, 2019.

Lucy was a 1950 graduate of Lily High School in Corbin, Kentucky.  She retired from Delco Electronics after 28 years of service.  Lucy enjoyed music and was a church soloist, along with ballroom and square dancing, traveling, sewing and crafts. 

Lucy is survived by her children, Linda (Steve) Cronk, Tim (Jennifer) Gillespie, and Keith (Cindy) Gillespie; grandchildren, Lindsay Cronk, Adam Cronk, Robert Justin Knapp, Sean Rogers, Brian Rogers, Kerri Gaumer, Jana Dillon, and Andrew Gillespie, along with 4 great-grandchildren; and best friend and walking buddy, Becky Irick. 

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a brother; and a sister.

A service celebrating Lucy’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Celebrations, 3437 W. Sycamore Street, Kokomo.  Friends and family are invited to enjoy a reception following the service to visit and share their memories of Lucy.  Private inurnment will be held in Albright Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Lucy’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46209-4830.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com
