Laura M. (Gross) Shane, 58, Greentown, passed away at Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo, at 5:17 pm, Wednesday, December 26, 2018. She was born June 26, 1960, to Donald and Jane (Zinder) Gross, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On November 14, 1995, she married Earl Shane in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and he survives.
Laura graduated from Western High School. She worked as a clerk at Smart Mart in Greentown and was a waitress at Barton’s restaurant for several years. Laura also served as an EMT for the Greentown ambulance service for seven years. She enjoyed helping people and going to the casino in Anderson.
In addition to her husband, Laura is survived by her parents, Donald and Jane Gross; children, Aaron Barnard, Adam (Amy) Barnard, and Amanda Barnard; siblings, Daniel (Nancy) Gross, Paul Gross, Leslie (Douglas) Elza, Timothy (Paula) Gross, Cheryl (James) DeCaro, Phillip (Lesa) Gross, Andrea (John) McKay, Bridgette (Gregory) Henner, and Benjamin Gross; step-children, Charles “Chuck” Shane, Douglas (Sharon) Shane, Terri (Scott) Mundell, and Aaron (Staci) Shane; three grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, and twelve step-great-grandchildren.
Laura was preceded in death by a step-grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, January 4, 2019, at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 East Main Street, Greentown, with Pastor David Stout officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Grant Memorial Park Cemetery in Marion. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Friday at the funeral home.
