Larry A. Seagrave

Larry A. Seagrave, 83, Greentown, passed away at 7:42 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Community Howard Regional Health.  He was born January 22, 1935, in Sycamore, Indiana, to Howard R. and Anna R. (Klotz) Seagrave.  On November 28, 1953, he married Carolyn J. Symons, at Congregational Christian Church, in Greentown, and she survives.

Larry graduated from Eastern High School in 1953 and worked as an inspector at Chrysler for 33 years before retiring in December of 1988.  He had also worked at Stellite, the Sycamore Elevator and as a commercial painter for 22 years.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and Florida.  He cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Larry was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer where he faithfully served the church as a member of the Board of Properties.  He spent many hours volunteering at the church and had helped build the gymnasium and paint much of the interior of the church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Cathy (Terry) Howell, Cindy (James) Kreft and Karen (John) Ryan; seven grandchildren, Amy (Chad) Pundt, Ryan (Christy) Howell, Brady (Misty) Howell, Melissa (Patrick) Bauer, Sean Ryan, Dillon Ryan and Dalton Ryan; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nephews and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Max and Dwight Seagrave; and great-grandson, Hudson Howell.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 Southway Blvd. East, with Pastor William Allison officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s memory to Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.hasler-stout.com.  Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, Greentown, has been entrusted with arrangements.
