Kevin Logan Sparling

Kevin Logan Sparling, 59, Greentown, passed away at 6:38 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2019, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis. He was born August 30, 1960, in Howard County, to H. Logan and Bonnie (Schaaf) Sparling. On June 20, 1987, he married Kathy Brinson, in Greentown, and she survives.

Kevin graduated from Eastern High School in 1978, from Lincoln Tech in 1979 and from Christ for the Nations Bible Institute, in Dallas, Texas, in 1986. He worked for Brad Howell Ford for over 32 years as parts manger, and also owned and operated Kevin’s Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. He had served as associate pastor at Church of the Good Shepherd and six years as pastor at Meridian Street Christian Church. He was the U.S. Director of Operations for Lanka Ministries International and was a member of Christian Life Fellowship, where he served as an elder and worship leader. He enjoyed music, playing guitar, riding his motorcycle, hiking and being with his family.

In addition to his wife, Kathy Sparling, he is survived by his father and second mother, Logan and Carolyn Sparling; children, Kaitlyn Scott, Kellie (Matt) Brown, Andrew Sparling and Benjamin (Bethany) Sparling; grandchildren, Liam Scott, Noah Scott, Cambri Scott, Annalee Scott, Pearl Brown, Brynlee Sparling and one more expected in March; brother, Kyle Sparling; sister, Kari Sparling; step-brothers; Scott (Christie) Miner, Tim (Heather) Miner, and Chris (Laurie) Miner; mother-in-law, Myrtle Brinson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Sparling; father-in-law, Bob Brinson; and granddaughter, Rachel Avanah.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Christian Life Fellowship, 1009 Holiday Dr., Greentown, with Pastor Gary Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in Mast-Hensler Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
