Kermit Rex Plough, 89, Kokomo, passed away at 1:50 pm Thursday November 14, 2019, at The Waters of Lebanon. He was born June 8, 1930, in Kokomo, the son of the late Raymond O. & Florence (Smith) Plough. On January 10, 1953, he married Dora Scott and she survives.
Kermit served with the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked at Berman’s, Snepp & Fagers, and Dick Sanburn’s Sporting Goods Stores. Kermit also worked as a sheriff’s deputy for the Howard County Sheriff’s Department, McGonigal, and retired in 1989 from Wiese Oldsmobile.
Along with his wife Dora, Kermit is survived by his sons, Mark S. Plough, and Jeffrey L. (Susan) Plough; grandchildren, Scott (Brandi) Plough, Shannon (Greg) Dunn, Andrew Plough, and Nicole (Jon) Silcox; step-grandchildren, Meghan (Brian) Morgan, and Patrick Matlock; great-grandchildren, Kaylin, Kenzie, Kyndal, Kamryn, Kiley Silcox, Allison Dunn, Cameron, and Emily Morgan.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday November 20, 2019, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Karen Burkley officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Navy and the Kokomo Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
