Kathryn K. “Kathy” Cofield, 80, Kokomo, passed away at 9:10 pm Monday, March 18, 2019. She was born January 10, 1939, in Niles, MI, the daughter of the late William Howard Kendrick and Ruth (Martens) Kendrick. On August 14, 1971, in Niles, MI, she married Malvin Cofield, Jr who preceded her in death on July 5, 2006.
Kathy was a 1956 graduate of Niles High School. She received her undergrad from DePauw University in 1960 and then her master’s degree in Education from Notre Dame University. She retired from Kokomo High School/Haworth High School as an Art Teacher. Kathy was an elder and member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, along with Psi lota Xi, and PEO. She like to travel and took students to Europe during her tenure as an art teacher in the Kokomo Center School Corporation. She was an avid reader and enjoyed talking with her family and close friends. Kathy was a founding supporter of CrossWay Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield, MI.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Catha C. (Jason) Huff, Mt. Clemens, MI; step-son M. Scott (Jean) Cofield, Brownsburg, IN; step-daughter, Paige C. (Kevin) Amsler, Wayzata, MN; grandchildren, Jackson and Cameron Huff, Paul, Andrea, and Brad Cofield, Nathan, Trevor, and Morgan Funk.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 23, 2019, at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2000 W. Jefferson Street, Kokomo, with Rev. Jerry Van Auken, Rev. Joyce Harris, and Rev. Jason Huff officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 9:30-11:00 am Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory to Psi lota Xi for Speech and Hearing project, or First EPC Women in Ministry for Missions Support.
