Joseph F. “Joe” Wolford, 79, Kokomo, passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born February 26, 1939, in Howard County, to Edna Pearl (Wolford) Slavey. In February of 1957, he married Carolyn M. Hendricks, and she preceded him in death on February 21, 2007.
Joe attended Kokomo High School and worked at Continental Steel for 26 years before retiring. He was a former member of the Eagles, the F.O.P. and the Steel Workers Union #2958. He loved his grandkids and enjoyed following all of their activities.
He is survived by his children, Ronald L. (Melanie) Wolford, Steven R. (Sandra) Benzinger, Rickey Wolford, Regina D. (Jonathan) Ashby, Terry (Victoria) Wolford and Betty Jo (Chuck) Chilcott; grandchildren, Christopher Wolford, Jacob (Janell) Wolford, Jared (Shianne) Wolford, Amanda (Jesse) Crow, Megan Wolford and Sara Benzinger; great-grandchildren, Hadley Wolford, Harlow Wolford, Bodhi Wolford, Greyson Wolford and Emberlee Wolford; siblings, Jerry (Cindy) Slavey, Carolyn (Randy) McKay, Debbie Landrum, Mary Ann (Don) Adams and Pat (Mark) Spaulding; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn Wolford, he was preceded in death by his mother; son, Nickey Wolford; two grandsons, Cody Smith and Jeremy Bitner; and three brothers, John Slavey, Walt Wolford and Jeff Slavey.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Kathy Eslinger officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
