Jon Blackman Obituary

Jon L. Blackman, 71, Kokomo, passed away at 10:13 pm Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo.  He was born September 3, 1948, in Peru, the son of the late Donald H. & Charlene L. (Sheets) Blackman.  On January 4, 1992, he married Victoria D. Graham, who survives.

Jon was a graduate of Peru High School.  He served with the United States Army from 1968-1972.  Jon retired from Chrysler Corp in 2004 after 34 years of service as a die maker.  He previously worked for the Wabash Railroad. He had also worked for the census bureau for a couple of years.  Jon volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital for 14 years.  He enjoyed playing golf, going to the Kokomo Jackrabbits Baseball games, traveling, spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.  Jon attended Crossroads Community Church-North. 

Along with his wife Victoria, Jon is survived by his daughters, Michelle Easterday, Nicole (Hector) Rodriguez, Lesa (Tim) Boyce, and Kelly Majors; grandchildren, Jessica Boyce, Nicholas Boyce, Maddison Easterday, Griffin Easterday, William Rodriguez, and Lukas Rodriguez; brother, Jeff (Teri) Blackman; and nephews, Gregg (Lauren) Blackman, and Cody (Kaity) Blackman; along with 2 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew. 

Jon was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Michael Blackman.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, January 6, 2020, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Sean Cooper officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team.  Private burial in Marion National Cemetery will be held Tuesday.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-4 pm Monday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Jon’s memory to the Kokomo Humane Society or the American Legion.  Messages of condolence may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
