Jerry Lee Elson

Jerry Lee Elson, 59, Kokomo, passed away at 5:24 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018.  He was born April 20, 1959, in Kokomo, to Robert and Dorothy (Hall) Elson. 

Jerry graduated from Kokomo High School in 1977 and had worked for Kokomo Opalescent Glass for the last 40 years.  He enjoyed sports and coached Little League and was a fan of the Colts, Pacers, IU sports and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He was a history buff, an animal and nature lover, and enjoyed practicing karate, taking pilot lessons and shooting at the gun range.

He is survived by his significant other, Katie Petrey; son, Kasey (Amy) Petrey; step-daughter, Amber Blakley; grandchildren, Jordan Blakley, Brielle Dockery and Aiden Dockery; brother, Chuck Elson; sisters, Betty Elson and Linda Elson; and aunt, Bertha Troyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Rd., with Pastor Jason Grant officiating.  Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s memory to the Kokomo Humane Society.  Messages of condolences may be left online at www.shirleyandstout.com.
